About Us
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international Catholic lay organization dedicated to serving the poor, the sick, the elderly, and those in need with compassion and dignity. Founded in 1833 by Blessed Frédéric Ozanam in Paris, France, the Society follows the example of St. Vincent de Paul, whose life was devoted to charity and service. Through parish-based conferences, members strive to live their Christian faith by reaching out to people experiencing poverty, loneliness, and hardship.
The Society's mission is rooted in the Gospel values of love, humility, and service. Members visit families, offer emotional and spiritual support, provide food, clothing, educational assistance, medical aid, and emergency relief, and respond to the needs of vulnerable individuals regardless of religion, caste, or social background. In addition to direct charitable work, the Society encourages prayer, spiritual formation, and fellowship among its members, helping them grow in faith while serving others with respect and compassion.
Present in parishes around the world, including across Kerala and the Kothamangalam Diocese, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul plays a vital role in promoting Christian charity and social responsibility. Guided by parish priests and dedicated volunteers, the Society organizes outreach programs, disaster relief, healthcare support, housing assistance, and educational initiatives for underprivileged families.
